Pro Evolution Soccer 10 to have 360-degree control scheme

Konami follows in FIFA's footsteps with 360-degree control, as well as a whole host of fan-requested features.

The rivalry between EA's FIFA series and Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer continues today as Konami has announced at this years GamesCom that the game will now feature a 360-degree control system--already a part of FIFA 10.

The new control scheme allows gamers to move the players around the pitch freely, resulting in smoother animation and more realistic gameplay. The old system only allowed for eight directions of movement, limiting the direction of runs and through balls. The PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of the game will feature the new control system when using the analog sticks, while only PS3 users will see the benefit using the D pad--even with the upgraded D pad controller that shipped last year to tie in with Pro Evo’s 2009 iteration.

The publisher also announced a whole host of improvements to Pro Evo 2010, which are said to have come directly from fan requests. These include manual goalkeepers and ball requests, as well as fine-tuned close control. This comes on top of previous improvements already announced for the game, including revisited graphics and player animations, as well as a new game balance system with "instantaneous stamina," which will prevent game-breaking tactics like over-sprinting. A new free-kick system featuring improved ball targeting, plus new AI feints have also been added.

Pro Evo 2010 is due out October 22 on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. PSP and PlayStation 2 versions will be available shortly after on November 5, with the Wii version landing November 19.

fifa has no soul, it feels like an empty game despite all the features and well made game, in PES you feel the game.

you know what from my experience with both game, FIFA is easier and slower while PES is faster and harder. (but FIFA wins on the Goaly engine, they are really Good) so it depends on what kind of gameplay you like.

Personnaly I like the lil fast pes (not too fast) but I play some time fifa because of the work they put in winning over PES.....

Viva PES but developers work hard please

I'm looking forward to seeing how PES stacks up this year as fifa feels little more than a DLC update.

On the ps2 PES is the best, but come on, FIFA is way ahead of PES on the 360 and ps3! PES's gamplay is just way too quick and the animations suck compared to FIFA. Since PES 2008 the games nearly haven't changed, while FIFA continues to grow better and better.

If the demo is anything to go by, it looks likes it's a welcome return to form for the PES/WE series.

I do hope PES is better this year. Ever since PES6 the game has in my opinion gone backwards. Only due to the fact that I couldn't stand the lag online. I have now gone on to prefer Fifa but will be more than happy to give this PES a try. Hopefully they will both be good games and I will have 2 more football games in my collection that I will love to play.

I don't get the hate for either side. I check FIFA related forums and it's all "PES is garbage", and here it's all "FIFA is garbage"...people need to f'ing grow up. They're both great games in their own right, and they both have things they do better than the other. If the other didn't exist, the game that you play would be a piece of trash, because there would be no competition. Now me personally, I PREFER (note that word) FIFA, because it has more of a sim feel, plus the licenses, so I can play along side the players I like to watch, and play for the team that I support among other things. Now, I've played PES at my friends place on his 360, and it's a good game, but it felt a little too arcade-ish for me. If PES 2010 is going for more of a simulation styled gameplay (which it seems like it is), then I'll probably check it out.

Anyways, whichever title you prefer, stop hating the other title so much, and be glad that it exists because without it you wouldn't have the quality game that you do now.

FIFA has based its entire year on 360 controls and little else. Pro evo has added more and more, then say, "oh we have 360 control too, no biggy" so in your face EA

this is exiting news, however it follows a trent for pes in recent years, and thats it cant actually come up with anything new and exiting on its own.
if you look at a lot of its new features like last BECOME A LEGEND, which waS a poor version of fifas BECOME A PRO then you will see what i mean, i just hope that it itdoesnt turn out to be a cheap gimmick, and that it actually improves the gameplay, becouse thats wwhat pes used to pride itself on, but in recent years those standards have dropped.
now all they have to do is sort out that shoddy master league, as anyone with half a brain cell, can tell ou they,ve been playing the same league for the best part ofd 6 or 7 years.
personally i love both games, last year they were so different it was a refreshing change of pace to play pes over fifa for a couple of days and hit a few 30 yrad screamers witha player like gerrard, and vice versa when playing fifa, you can go on a magical little run with ronaldo or messi, lets just hope for to great games, becouse without both of them we would just have one probably poor game.

i dont get why people always say dat fifa is better...anybody can play fifa is so easy to play plus is slow as hell, the player's that are suppose to be fast basicly have the same speed when u have the ball and u want to make a quick turn...the thing that bothers me most about FIFA is that when the player gets the ball and a defender is right on back of you...you cant make a quick turn or have that quick feet to turn quicker and stuff in that nature because if you been playing soccer and i mean actual real soccer for a while and know what i mean you should know that im right on this... FIFA is kinda slow when it comes to player having the ball at their feet...it is nothing compare to PES when players have the ball at their feet and right away you can feel the difference because you can move alot more realistic...this is why i enjoy playing PES more than FIFA...and i know alot of people dont get PES because of the teams names, logos and so on but if you really want to play a real realistic soccer game you should get PES and not FIFA
